Rincon stands as the oldest settlement in Bonaire, still exuding the ambiance of bygone eras. The village bears deep scars of its slavery past, with echoes of which still resonate today. What is Dia di Rincon?

Dia di Rincon, is an annual festival celebrating the culture and heritage of Rincon. It's one of the most significant holidays in Bonaire and is celebrated on April 30th. Each year, it draws many visitors from around the world who want to partake in this joyful event filled with music, dance, and traditional festivities. On this day, the end of the harvest period (simadan) is also celebrated, accompanied by an authentic music and dance style, the Simadan.

The program of Dia di Rincon 2024 is bursting with excitement and enthusiasm. This year promises to be extra special as it marks a milestone: the celebration is held for the 35th time since its inception in 1989. Several events will be held leading up to April 30th to get everyone in the mood. On the day itself, early in the morning, the Rincon flag is raised followed by a visit to the church. Then, a colorful parade floods through the streets of Rincon, with local residents dressed in the most beautiful costumes and dancers honoring local traditions. Enjoy live music performances, stalls offering local delicacies such as pastechis, and other delightful local dishes that bring the taste of Bonaire to life.
